A brief look at The Planet Neptune and some quite interesting facts. I hope you enjoy it. Music: Top of the Morning & Moonwatch, by Mike Oldfield.

Neptune is the eighth and outermost-known planet from the Sun in the Solar System. Named for the Roman god of the sea, it is the fourth-largest planet by diameter and the third-largest by mass. Neptune is 17 times the mass of Earth and is slightly more massive than its near-twin Uranus, which is 15 Earth masses and not as dense.[12] On average, Neptune orbits the Sun at a distance of 30.1 AU, approximately 30 times the Earth-Sun distance. Its astronomical symbol is , a stylized version of the god Neptune’s trident. Discovered on September 23, 1846,Neptune was the first planet found by mathematical prediction rather than by empirical observation. Unexpected changes in the orbit of Uranus led astronomers to deduce that its orbit was subject to gravitational perturbation by an unknown planet. Neptune was subsequently found within a degree of its predicted position, and its largest moon, Triton, was discovered shortly thereafter, though none of the planet’s remaining 12 moons was located telescopically until the 20th century. Neptune has been visited by only one spacecraft, Voyager 2, which flew by the planet on August 25, 1989. Neptune is similar in composition to Uranus, and both have compositions which differ from those of the larger gas giants Jupiter and Saturn. Neptune’s atmosphere, while similar to Jupiter’s and Saturn’s in that it is composed primarily of hydrogen and helium, along with traces of hydrocarbons and possibly nitrogen, contains a higher proportion of

OUTSTANDING JOB! KEEP IT UP! I LOVE THEM ALL! =D
I have LOADS of Astronomy books! I’ve studied Science since I was VERY young! I got my 1st Astronomy book at age 4! Neptune is such a strange world! We should send missions to Uranus & Neptune, & its moons! I hope “New Horizons” will get MORE info, before reaching Pluto! Neptune has INTENSE meteorological & geological activity! Cyclones disappearing/reappearing are PHENOMENAL!

@rezzadee Of course, God does not want us going there because it’s dangerous. We’ll be crushed by its extreme pressures and uninhabitable conditions

@megatron20000 Unless you are stood on it. :) You’d be far from calm then. :)

Great video shame we wont be alive to ever go to these planets :(

However after the way this world is, god may not want us to.

Perhaps a reference to Voyager 2 would have complimented the Video. Practically everything we learned about Neptune came from that one brief encounter Voyager had with the Planet before gliding towards deep Space. Another Space Craft is en Route to Neptune. Schedule arrival 2015.

Happy birthday Neptune! Neptune was discovered on September 23, 1846, which means on this day in 2010 it is 164 years since the planet was discovered and its orbital period is 164 years, so it’s done one orbit since its discovery!

Really good video! It would be cool to be standing on Triton, and look out and see Neptune in the distance. I also liked the picture of Jupiter, with Neptune peeking from behind. Is there a similar picture with Saturn?
